Sensium® smart algorithms continuously process and analyse patient data, generating alarms notifications. Connected to the Ascom alarm notifications system, this integration helps alerting the right caregiver about a potential life threatening patient deterioration.
Patient deterioration is a signficant and growing problem but there is a mounting body of published evidence that supports early identification of the changes in physiology as a critical factor in avoiding these dangerous and costly episodes.
In general, care areas of a hospital vital signs are typically taken during the routine observation rounds once every 4-8 hours. If a patient deteriorates between these observation rounds the warning signs can go undetected for hours, potentially leading to serious and costly consequences.
Sensium is a discreet wearable wireless system for monitoring vital signs of patients outside of high acuity areas. A light and comfortable sensor worn on the patient's chest accurately and reliably, monitors and reports vital signs, providing data every 2 minutes. By notifying clinicians of changes in patients' vital signs Sensium and Ascom can bring the nurse to the deteriorating patient, allowing intervention before the condition worsens, thereby contributing to improving patient outcomes, shortening hospital stays and lowering treatment costs. The combined solution enables nurses to prioritise, patient care where it is needed most. The solution is focused exclusively on general care clinicians whose patients currently do not have the safety and security of continuous vital sign monitoring.
Economic benefits – 29% Reduction of length of stay and 80% Reduction in unplanned critical care transfers1
