Objective and Purpose

As a Solutions Architect at Ascom you will provide technical sales support by preparing quotes, offering technical advice, and managing customer relationships from within the office, often supporting external sales teams and collaborating with internal engineering departments to meet sales targets and ensure customer satisfaction. 

This is an exciting opportunity to work with Ascom’s advanced Nurse Call and software solutions to help deliver critical and clinical communication for hospitals and acute care facilities, and we are looking for someone who is a self-starter, eager to learn, and committed to delivering solutions that can make a real difference to patient outcomes. 

This role requires a technical background, strong communication skills, and commercial awareness to thrive in a high-tech sales environment.

Regular travel across the UK, sometimes requiring overnight stays, and travel to Ascom's Head Office in Lichfield will be required.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Support: Provide technical advice and solutions to customers.

Quotation Preparation: Develop accurate and timely quotations for products and services.

Sales Collaboration: Work closely with external sales teams to achieve sales targets and support customer accounts.

Customer Interaction: Engage with customers to understand their technical needs and provide excellent service.

Internal Coordination: Liaise with internal departments, such as engineering and service teams, to ensure customer satisfaction and efficient project execution.


Skills and Competencies

Technical Background: A degree or experience in an engineering field is often required.

Sales & Technical Acumen: A combination of technical understanding and sales skills is essential.

Communication Skills: The ability to communicate effectively with clients, colleagues, and internal departments is crucial.

Commercial Awareness: An understanding of the sales process and commercial aspects of a sale.

Problem-Solving: Ability to resolve technical challenges for clients


Experience:

  • Ability to work independently and have a strong social presence with team interaction
  • Strong network knowledge (understanding of IP networks and WiFi highly desirable, any certifications such as CCNA or CWNA would be desirable)
  • Knowledge of servers, virtualization and cloud would be desirable
  • Strong understanding of structured cabling, installation practices, and applicable standards (e.g., BS EN 50173, TIA/EIA standards) highly desirable
  • Understanding of Electrical Installations and/or Electronic Engineering (e.g., BS 7671 standards) highly desirable
  • Knowledge or hands on experience with NEC contracts (e.g., NEC3/NEC4) highly desirable
