When a patient calls for assistance, the corridor light over the patient’s door illuminates and a nurse is notified that a call has been placed via staff follow tones at the nearest Telligence station. When a caregiver enters the patient room, the RTLS-enabled staff badge automatically cancels the call and time-records their arrival. Their presence is documented and the nurse call corridor light illuminates a specific color based on their role, showcasing to other staff members that a caregiver is present. Upon staff exit from the patient room, the corridor light will automatically turn off, and the system will document the amount of time staff spent with the patient.
RTLS technology also helps to better facilitate staff rounding by documenting how long it has been since a clinical-staff member has entered the room. This data enables Telligence to send proactive reminders to nurses when rounding is due or overdue on a particular room – greatly increasing patient satisfaction and reducing calls. With precise location data provided by CenTrak, the amount of time spent in the patient’s room is recorded to help establish better workflow processes, understand patient call response times, and provide documentation to protect the hospital in the case of liability.
