Care provider, Signature Senior Lifestyle (Signature), is deploying over 1,000 new Myco 3 Smartphones across its estate – extending its relationship with long-term care tech provider, Ascom, and value-added reseller, Storm Technologies.
Signature offers luxury-residential, nursing, respite and dementia care in a range of locations across London and the south-east.
Ascom’s Myco 3 handsets, which support healthcare and long-term care specific apps, are used around the world as an all-in-one device that connects people, devices, alerts and processes to support improved care provision.
While the devices have been used in Signature care homes previously, always configured and installed by Storm Technologies, this is the first time the Myco 3 devices will be rolled out across all Signature’s homes following it integration of 20 Sunrise Senior Living (Sunrise) and Gracewell properties in December 2021.
Charlie Carrack, Senior Technology Officer at Signature, commented: “All our luxury care homes provide care that is tailored to each resident, with 24-hour support. That requires constant communication between, and co-ordination of, our teams – from care and hospitality teams to maintenance managers.
“The Myco 3 smartphone is perfect for us in this respect. It consolidates voice, data and dedicated app usage in one handset so that the individuals using them don’t have to carry multiple devices for different notifications and communications. In turn, this enables us to provide a more efficient service and ensure important alerts don’t get missed.
“The fact that handsets can be in constant use is another big plus for us – especially for shift patterns where it’s vital that devices are in use 24 hours a day. The devices have detachable batteries that you can easily swap without turning off the device, so there is no downtime. With the screen staying on throughout, there is no risk of lost data.”
In most Signature homes, the devices wirelessly connect to private GSM Data Network, but in a number of Sunrise properties now under Signature’s management - existing DECT infrastructures will need to be leveraged.
Matthew Johnson, Sales Manager from Storm Technologies, said: “We don’t just supply devices to Signature, we install. So, knowing the handsets we’re providing are flexible in terms of operating infrastructure is very important. In the new Sunrise properties, for example, Ascom’s Myco 3 smartphones can be used on DECT for voice and wifi for data. This is ideal for us and for our customer, Signature.”
